With the beginning of "Denmark Studio" in 1917, "Denmark Studio" was one of the premier Photography Studios of its time. Located in downtown Raleigh in the old Hudson Belk Building on Fayetteville St., Jim Denmark photographed the people, children, landmarks, and special events of Raleigh while his sister Leonita painted and "colorized" the portraits. In many cases Jim's brother L. Polk Denmark was also capturing images as a professional photographer.

"Denmark Photo" still enjoys a rich history in the Central Raleigh area today. As a fine art portraitist and 3rd generation photographer, Jim's Grandson "Jay" continues the photography tradition in the studio. Jay approaches each subject holistically, incorporating the elements of composition, lighting, and style with emotional impact, which culminates into the overall presentation. Jay also strives to evoke and capture a natural emotional response from the subject being portrayed. Our studio is presently located in Raleigh, NC.

"Our goal is to make our photographs available to the public with the help of the world wide web. Until now, they were simply old negatives, stored away for over half a century. Some of these negatives are over a hundred years old and have been restored to the best of our abilities as artists and now offered to the public"

Originally Grand dad shot them as large 4x5 negatives, and we've scanned them in at a high scan rate resolution JPG format that still allows us to manage and store the images.

Do you add photos on a regular basis?
Yes. We add photos as they are scanned, after we've done art work and then entered into our system.

Right now the only photos that we sell are the ones taken or owned by Denmark Photo & Video, LLC. In the future we may consider this.

Do you offer refunds?
Once your purchase is made we can not offer refunds, due to the possbility of our images being electronically scanned, or copied post purchase. Please contact us prior to any purchases if there are any questions or special requests for custom croppings etc..
